A Very Special flight for Mike in Chimpunk – GARMC,
with his attached log book entry
(if you have any great historical stories about Compton Abbas Airfield or our aircraft – do get in touch)
“Many thanks to PPJ and Cat from White Waltham for a fantastic flight this morning in his wonderfully restored Chipmunk GARMC.
I’m attaching a photo of myself beaming from ear to ear, along with a page of my old Log book from the 60’s. You can see that it was the very same aircraft that I managed to do my first solo in at Hamble in 1967, at the tender age of 19.
I was a very lucky boy then as it started my career with both BOAC and British Airways. It also meant I could carry on flying in retirement at Compton, with its fantastic team of people and very interesting airfield especially when the wind is coming from the SouthEast!
Thanks to all of you for making it happen today
